Changing your Medicare plan is still an option as long as we are inside the Medicare Annual Election Period, which runs through December 7.

A lot of folks get to this point in the season and start second-guessing their decision. Maybe something feels off. Maybe a detail you didn’t notice before is now catching your attention. This happens every single year. Our job is to take the stress out of it, walk you through the cleanest path forward, and help you feel confident in whatever choice you make.
Yes, you can still change your Medicare plan as long as it’s before December 7.
The Medicare Annual Election Period was created for this exact reason. Medicare.gov confirms that this window lets you review your Medicare Advantage or Part D drug plan and make a change if your current coverage isn’t lining up with your needs. It’s your chance to avoid surprises next year and get into something that fits your actual situation.
Many people assume they’re stuck until January, but that doesn’t fly during this timeframe. If your plan is costing more than you expected, not covering something important, or just isn’t giving you the peace of mind you thought it would, this is the time to make a clean correction. Better to fix it now than be faced with a scenario down the road that drains your wallet.
Excellent resource for making good choices about Medicare coverage. Very knowledgeable, helpful and professional. Pointed out advantages and pitfalls I did not know. I am very satisfied with them and have recommended them to others. I wish I had called them sooner. – Kaye J
Bottom line: if your plan doesn’t feel right, you still have time to make it right.

Before the December 7 deadline, you can switch from one Medicare Advantage plan to another, move from Medicare Advantage back to Original Medicare, or change your Part D prescription drug plan.
Each move solves a different problem, so it helps to know exactly what isn’t working. Maybe your specialist isn’t in the network. Maybe a prescription jumped to a higher tier. Maybe the plan you picked looked good on paper but the out-of-pocket costs turned into a bit of a disaster. Medicare.gov lays out these options clearly so seniors can match their plan to their real needs without penalties during this window.
This is where simple explanations make a world of difference. If you prefer predictable costs, we can walk through those options. If you want lower premiums and can handle pay-as-you-go doctor visits, we can review plans built for that. No pressure. Just honest guidance that protects your budget.
Bottom line: this window lets you fix the pieces of Medicare that aren’t lining up.
Someone may want to change their Medicare plan now because their current plan isn’t meeting their needs or is costing more than expected.
Even a solid plan can end up being the wrong fit if it doesn’t match the way you actually use healthcare. An uncovered prescription, a provider who doesn’t participate in your network, or a higher-than-expected co-pay can change the entire picture. Medicare.gov reminds folks that plans change each year, which is why reviewing your coverage annually is so important.
This is the exact time when we hear, “I wish I had known this sooner.” That’s why we go through everything line by line with you. One reviewer recently said, “They caught something in my plan I never would have noticed. It saved me from a huge bill.”
Bottom line: your plan should work for you, not surprise you.

After December 7, the plan you selected will take effect on January 1.
Once the deadline ends, the Annual Election Period closes, and you’ll need to wait until the next opportunity to make a change unless you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period. Medicare.gov confirms that all changes made in this window go into effect at the start of the new year.
There is one important exception. If you are in a Medicare Advantage plan, there is a separate open enrollment from January 1 through March 31 that lets you make one additional change. It won’t apply to Medicare Supplements or Part D on their own, but it does give Medicare Advantage members a second chance if their new plan doesn’t feel like the right fit once the year gets going.
Bottom line: December 7 is the major deadline, but not always the final one.
